Meet the Author
Heidi Mercier loves to read, but it never occurred to her that the first book she would ever write would be the real-life story of her family’s journey through a life-threatening medical trauma—her mother’s near fatal head-on collision one summer night in 2005. Her journal-styled account of that night and the on-going battle her family faced over the years is coupled with reflective moments and Scripture to encourage those facing medical trauma of their own. “I have met so many people sitting in waiting rooms at hospitals since 2005. The saying by NBA star, Kevin Love, “Everyone is going through something that we can’t see” is so true. I wanted to help others who might be experiencing what I went through. That’s why I wrote Holding Tight the Pieces.”
Although Heidi has faced many challenges, even PTSD from her mother’s accident, she focusses on the positives she gained during the hard times. One is writing this book and the many other books-fiction and non-fiction, that she has planned, to help others. “I’ve written a children’s book about a boy visiting his grandmother in the hospital and am working on my third book at the moment, a fictional book about infertility.” When Heidi isn’t writing or reading, she works full time as a private accountant for a large company and loves to travel around the world. “I’ve been to nine different countries. I love learning and growing and experiencing other cultures is the best way to do that.”
Ever since that night in 2005, family and faith have become vitally important. Heidi and her husband Paul make serving Jesus their life’s goal in everything they do. “I have a favorite verse, it’s Psalm 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God.” I know that whatever I go through and whatever happens, God is there with me-always.” Heidi and Paul reside in rural Pennsylvania with their three lovable fur-babies-Godzilla, Pink Panther and King Cuddles.
